Welcome to the Shetland Islands!
| A break in Shetland is true relaxation
for the senses and soul. Shetland is 100 miles
north of mainland Scotland, 225 miles west
of Bergen in Norway, and just 400 miles south
of the Arctic Circle. We have over 900 miles
of coastline, over 34,000 gannets, 6,080 archaeological
sites, 200,000 puffins, more than 100 islands,
and over 5,000 years of history. |

Nordagerdi is a spacious self-catering
cottage in a wildlife-rich, secluded location
in South Mainland Shetland, overlooking the internationally
renowned bird migration hot spots of the Pool
of Virkie and Sumburgh Head. For birders, Nordagerdi
is probably the best-situated self-catering cottage
in Shetland... and for sheer rarity value maybe
the whole of Europe!
Shetland has over 500 square miles of open countryside,
most of it accessible to hikers. The islands’
vibrant cultural life includes internationally
famous events such as the Shetland Folk Festival
and the Up Helly Aa’ fire festival.
